With nearly one million youth eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), promising young people can now obtain protection from deportation and access to work permits. But, a hefty application fee often stands in their way. Using social lending, our Lending Circles program organizes DREAMers to lend and borrow money with each other to finance their application fee.

A first step towards securing their future, DACA helps participants pursue higher education, meaningful employment, and a real chance to contribute to our country.

How it Works

Lending Circles for Dreamers provides a zero-interest loan to help participants pay the $465 application fee for DACA. Participants take our online financial training class and build credit by making payments of $46.50 for 10 months. As soon as participants are ready to apply for DACA, we give them a check made out to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

When participants receive DACA, they will receive a work permit, become eligible for a Social Security number, and obtain protection from deportation. Plus, they’ll have an improved credit score and financial savviness to help build a brighter future.
